ITS GO FOR THE NEW SEASON

By now everyone who has asked for an ID Grade Badge should have received it, if not you should contact the office immediately. As far as we are concerned our records are now up to date and everyone has a badge with their grade. The badge is to be worn at all times whilst on the circuit either on a lanyard around their neck or on a badge clip.

As mentioned in the last newsletter we have reduced the Grades to A, B and C, A and AA are for Officials, B and BB for team leaders and other Senior Officials, C for all track and flag Marshals and CC for off the track helpers. Please remember Marshal’s who have not signed on for at least one meeting during the season will be downgraded to Grade D which will be re introduced in 2011.

Your membership photograph ID Card is the card you should produce at the main entrance to gain access to the circuits, however these will not be valid at Cadwell and Mallory, where you will need a circuit pass which will be sent out in the post to everyone who has indicated on the attendance sheet or the slip attached that they will be available for duty.

We have had a number of enquiries from new Marshals asking what to bring with them, the answer is to come prepared for hot, cold or wet weather and where possible bring a hot drink as you will be on the circuit for some considerable time. 

NEW BONUS SCHEME FOR 2010 The bonus scheme has proved to be a real headache over the last few years, one of the biggest problems has been allocating points to Marshals who have signed on but we have been unable to read their name or signature, this has resulted in a number of Marshals not getting points which in turn has caused a little bit of bad feeling at the end of the season. To stream line the system everyone will get a point for attending and at the end of the season there will be trophies and awards including clothing and other goodies for the top ten/twenty attenders, this figure has yet to be decided. It is proposed to re introduce the York Road Race Show where there will be a social event for Marshals and the award ceremony.

Food vouchers have also been another problem, mainly due to them being misused by a number of Marshals to the point where Blue Bar have had their knuckles rapped by their accountant as the system has shown a big financial loss on their books to continue the scheme the club feel we may end up with no caterers in a year’s time so lunch vouchers have been scrapped as from now.

Each Marshal who has notified us that he/she will be attending will receive an envelope when signing on containing £5 to help towards refreshments, this system will be used at all meetings during 2010. For Marshals who have not informed us of their attendance there will be no envelope. 

The deadline for surrendering bonus points has now passed and all clothing has been ordered and will definitely be with us for allocation at the Ian Watson Spring Cup.

Debbie has now taken on the role of Marshals co-ordinator and is available at the Scarborough office between 10 and 4 on Tuesdays only.

Information on the coming events, signing on times etc and your availability form is enclosed with this letter.
